Two people have died and several others were injured following a mass shooting in Asheville, North Carolina, early Sunday morning, leaving the community shocked and authorities searching for answers.
The shooting occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the area of Biltmore Avenue, where Asheville Police officers responded to reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they discovered multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds, along with a vehicle showing bullet damage and signs of gunfire near a nearby apartment building.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said several others were transported for medical treatment, including two people who remained in critical condition. Additional victims were reported to be in stable condition, while one person was treated and released.
Asheville Interim Police Chief Jackie Stepp said investigators do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence. Officials believe evidence suggests the incident may have been targeted and possibly connected to a previous gun violence incident.

Witnesses described the frightening moments as gunfire erupted in the area. Adrian Reeves told WYFF News 4 that he was inside Dalton Distillery when he heard shots. He said people were quickly brought inside and moved behind the bar and other protected areas for safety.
