The Mobile, Alabama community is mourning the tragic loss of Kristen Beard Delaney, a beloved wife, daughter, community volunteer, and marketing professional who died Saturday night following a two-boat collision on the Intracoastal Waterway near Wolf Bay in Orange Beach.
Kristen Delaney, 46, was identified by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) as the victim of the boating accident that occurred around 8:10 p.m. She was a passenger aboard a 27-foot 2024 Albury Brothers vessel operated by her husband, Drew Delaney, 49, of Mobile, when the boat collided with a 23-foot 2013 Key West vessel.
Following the crash, Kristen was transported to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, and members of the Mobile community devastated.
According to authorities, eight people were aboard the two boats at the time of the collision. Several others were injured and transported to hospitals for treatment.
Brooks Delaney, 51, of Fairhope, who was also a passenger on the Albury Brothers vessel, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with injuries. Drew Delaney was not injured in the crash.
The operator of the Key West vessel, Cameron Neil, 32, of Houma, Louisiana, along with passengers Talyn Faulkner, 25, John Lyle, 28, and Rayford Reeves, 34, all from Louisiana, were also transported to Sacred Heart Hospital for medical care.
The two boats were later moved to the Wharf docks in Orange Beach as the Marine Patrol Division continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the cause of the crash or whether any charges are expected.
Kristen Delaney was the daughter of Brad and Melissa Beard and was deeply connected to the Mobile business community through her work with Beard Equipment Co., a family-owned John Deere construction and forestry equipment dealership.
She served in marketing for the company, which has been operated by members of the Beard family for three generations. Beyond her professional work, Kristen was known for her dedication to helping others and her involvement in community efforts.
In a 2021 American Cancer Society profile, Kristen was recognized as a melanoma survivor and a community volunteer who supported local charities and schools. She was remembered as someone who valued family, service, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
